Maybe my favourite piece of self made art. Becaus it's a combination of the cartoon style I began with in my artist career and the latest style of expression; the loose tones and colours. I love it when it all flows together

Misschien wel mijn favoriete eigen werk. Omdat hij een combinatie is van de cartoonstijl waardoor ik heb leren tekenen en de expressieve losse verfspatten die ik de laatste tijd steeds vaker gebruik. Realisme en abstractie. Tekenen en schilderen. Het prille begin van mijn kunstenaarscarrière en de latere periode ervan. Ik hou ervan als alles samenkomt.

Getting sentimental

Caspar David Friedrich is a painter of the romantic period. The human observing the power and beauty of nature is a common used theme in this period. One can only feel small within the greatness of the world that surrounds him, which lead to introspection, philosophy and emotion. Almost getting sentimental.

Caspar David Friedrich was een schilder van de Romantiek. De mens die de kracht en schoonheid van de natuur observeert is een veel gebruikt thema in deze periode. Men kan zich slechts nietig voelen in de grootsheid van de schepping, wat dan weer leidt tot introspectie, filosofie en emotie. Je zou er bijna sentimenteel van worden.

The power of drama

This is a painting of Renato Ferrari. I love his work for the power of drama. Not only are his figures painted anatomically correct and is the play of light and shadow stunning, but he always adds a little twist. A little extra to give the composition a bit of tension.

Dit is een schilderij van Renato Ferrari. Ik houd van zijn werk vanwege de kracht van drama. Niet alleen zijn zijn figuren anatomisch correct geschilderd en is het samenspel van licht en schadow schitterend, maar hij weet altijd net dat beetje extra toe te voegen om de compositie wat spannender te maken.

Let the light come in

Lately I'm obsessed with lightfall on my painted figures. The old masters as Caravaggio and Rembrandt are offcourse great sources of inspiration but so is an artist as Mara Light. As her name already explains, she is a child of light. As wel are her paintings.

De laatste tijd ben ik geobsedeerd door lichtval op mijn geschilderde figuren. Oude meesters als Caravaggio en Rembrandt zijn dan natuurlijk geweldige inspiratiebronnen, maar een artiest als Mara Light is dat ook. Zoals haar naam al zegt is ze een kind van licht. Evenals haar schilderijen.
